'The Voice' Live Recap: More Shocking Eliminations

Well, as most of you now know, last night's episode of The Voice proved to be quite controversial. Team Blake and Team Christina performed first, heading off the quarterfinals. A wrench was thrown into the competition by way of an instant elimination. While Blake sent home Jordis Unga, a well favored voice on his team, Christina blew the minds of all in the live studio and at home when she sent Jesse Campbell packing.

Being that I have this opportunity to use my own voice, I'd like to comment on Christina's decision last night. She stated, making it clear, that she is looking for a team of artists that have grown and will continue to grow from this point on. For whatever reason unbeknownst to we little people of America who simply enjoy watching reality television, Christina Aguilera clearly stuck to her job description by eliminating one of her team members. She made a decision and, knowing that fans of the show would be upset no matter who she chose, she followed through. Let's not get carried away and call anyone out of their name for doing what it is they are meant to do. I'm sure someone will see Jesse Campbell and sign him; he will be greatly taken care of. Now it's time to look forward to a blossoming career from another young, talented, growing hopeful. That is all; I'm jumping down from my soapbox.

Someone else will be leaving the show tonight, so hopefully you all voted for your favorites! Plus, we can also look forward to a video premiere of Justin Bieber's new single.

How could I forget UK boy band The Wanted performing tonight ON TOP OF Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" video. It's a big show, so let's get to it.

Guest Performance
The Wanted featuring Team Blake
"Chasing The Sun"
Talk about me if you want, but I'm excited about the resurgence of boy bands. It's the new wave of Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. Now the guys not only harmonize well, but dodge strobe lights and dance beats. Jermaine Paul, Erin Willett and RaeLynn join the Brits towards the end. Very good performance. I could  have done without Team Blake, though. I mean, they didn't do much.

On Christina's controversy:

Adam: "I respect it. I feel like there was definitely a lot of thought put into it on her part."

Cee Lo: "I urge America to own their actions and opinions, but not expect the worst."

Christina: "I am no stranger to controversy and I am okay with that. I will defend every action that I make." There's endless "I love you, Christina!" shout-outs from all around the studio. Good to see the support is still there.

Team Christina

America saves
Chris Mann
- Really??

Ashley De La Rosa and Lindsey Pavao will perform their last chance songs tonight.

Team Blake

Blake: "It sucks, it sucks." Got it, Blake.

America saves
Jermaine Paul
- HOORAY!!!!

RaeLynn and Erin Willett risk going home tonight and must perform.

Sprint Lounge

Christina Milian sits in between Chris Mann and Jermaine Paul, talking about their being safe from elimination. Chris makes things awkward by saying Jermaine is his roommate and that "there's something special happening in room 124!"

Last Chance Performances

Team Christina
Artist:
Ashley De La Rosa
Song: "You and I" by Lady Gaga
Once again, Ashley brings a rocker vibe to her song selection. She's hopping around the stage, getting the crowd revved up. Ashley is officially the part girl of The Voice. This girl is young, but she's got it.

Adam: "I still would say regardless of this performance I'd keep you around. You were amazing."

Blake: "Ashley's won me over also. Based on the last couple of weeks, I think I'd go buy Ashley's record."

Artist: Lindsey Pavao
Song: "Please Don't Go" by Mike Posner
It's another haunting dream from Lindsey. The dance/club banger tune has been slowed down for her signature sound. I actually like the way she's changed it up. You can see her vulnerability as though she is truly begging. Can we retract America's votes and send Chris home? Now, both Lindsey and Christina her teary eyed.

Cee Lo: Clears his throat a bit and mentions "good luck."

Blake: "There's something about her that draws you into her."

Surprise!
And here we have him ladies! Justin Bieber walks out onstage.

Justin: "I can't show you the whole video." Seriously?? Just a Clip?!

"Boyfriend" - The Clip
Well, there were silhouettes, Justin whispering into a woman's ears, a guitar and a lot of female hands feeling on the young star. Interesting. After the snippet goes off, Justin exchanges some apologies over not getting a "super-group" together with Adam Levine. Not entirely sure what that's about, but I think I'm relieved there isn't a Maroon 5 - Bieber joining.

June 19th - "Believe" by Justin Bieber. His new album. Go get it. Carson invites Justin to perform "Boyfriend" for the first time live on The Voice. So look for that!

Sprint Lounge Cont.

Christina M. stands with Cheesa, Jamar Rogers, Mathai and Pip of Team Adam and Team Cee Lo. She asks them about what needs to be done next week and then mentions her outfit randomly. The girl is adorable, but I wish she would just release another album.

Team Christina Elimination

Christina: "I really love these two girls a lot." She is seriously crying. I feel so horrible for her! Someone hand her a box of tissue! "I hate this right now, I really do."

Going Home
Ashley De La Rosa
- Wasn't sure what to expect here. Ashley will definitely be missed.

Saved
Lindsey Pavao
- You better drop the nerves, honey, because you are going up against some big dogs!

Team Blake

Remember that performance Blake set up in LA for his team? Well, here it is. Tons of people are coming out to see him, as he puts it, but he wants his artists to steal the show. Each member of the team sang their own selections and surprisingly they all know how to play the guitar. Plus, they sang another song all together for Blake. How nice.

Artist: Erin Willett
Song: "Proud Mary" by Tina Turner
I understand now what Adam mentioned last night about phrasing. I think she would have better luck by stressing different words or putting the power notes behind other word groupings. I'm definitely no expert, but this is just lackluster. She doesn't even try to do any dancing!

Christina: "I loved your spirit and I loved your energy." Christina's just being nice to everyone now.

Artist: RaeLynn
Song: "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry
Anyone remember Shirley Temple? She was just so cute that it sort of made you uncomfortable, then she opened her mouth and spoke with that cutesy talk. This performance is similar to that. RaeLynn is trying to work that southern drawl, but I just don't get it. She sounds flat and her voice definitely broke.

Adam: "I would've done a lot of things differently ... This wasn't my favorite of yours, personally." I think he was also just trying to be nice. In other words, bad job.

Team Blake Elimination

Blake: "Even as I sit here, I don't know ... Gosh dang, man." Haha! He's talking so much, though, that they're rolling the credits!

Going Home
RaeLynn

Saved
Erin Willett

Possibly, the most hilarious moment of the night ... RaeLynn starts crying like a baby in Erin's grasp. She gives the youngster a kiss on the cheek then, realizing she's left lipstick on her, tries to rub it off. Erin shows an "Oops!" face while RaeLynn cries crocodile tears. This is what good television is made of.

That is that for the first week of The Voice quarterfinals. I'm upset that Ashley De La Rosa has gone home, but hopefully she'll pop up again somewhere. I'll admit that do not see Christina celebrating a season win this year either. There is still a few weeks ahead of us until then, though. Next Monday, Team Adam and Team Cee Lo will perform once again. Make sure you tune in to NBC and log on to BuddyTv.com to keep up with another live blog!
