The Voice doesn't return for season 4 until March 25, but coach Adam Levine will be back on NBC much sooner than that. The Maroon 5 lead singer will show up on Saturday Night Live later this month not as a musical guest, but as host.


Levine will host the January 26 episode of the long-running sketch comedy show. Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar will be the musical guest.

Levine's band, Maroon 5, has appeared as SNL's musical guest four times, starting back in 2004 on a show coincidentally hosted by fellow Voice coach Christina Aguilera. Most recently he appeared less than two months ago on the November episode of this season hosted by Jeremy Renner.

He has also appeared in musical sketches, most notably providing his unique voice to the Digital Short "Iran So Far."



Recently Levine has been transitioning from singing to acting, with a recurring role on FX's American Horror Story: Asylum.

Prior to Levine's appearance, Saturday Night Live returns with new episodes January 19 with host Jennifer Lawrence and musical guest The Lumineers.

Will Levine be able to reach a Justin Timberlake-level of success as a singer-turned-host on Saturday Night Live?
