The View returns live today, September 4 at 11am ET. Co-hosts
Barbara Walters,
Joy Behar,
Elisabeth Hasselbeck and award-winning actress-comedian Whoopi Goldberg, the highly anticipated new addition to the multiple award-winning program, kickoff season 11 with special guest star Danny DeVito.
DeVito, who serves as Goldberg's first guest on
The View, made headlines over his appearance on the show last November to promote his movie
Deck the Halls. His interview became controversial, however, when he told incoherent stories to the amusement of the audience about his night of drinking with friend George Clooney.
Other guests slated to appear this week include Clive Owen (
Closer), Regis Philbin (
Live with Regis and Kelly, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire),
Larry David (
Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm),
Tim Gunn (
Project Runway), award-winning cooking show host Rachael Ray, and
High School Musical star
Monique Coleman.
Aside from the addition of Goldberg, who filled in the
Rosie O'Donnell's seat, another noted change for this season is
The View set. To freshen up the mood, the set has been tinted with warm hues of yellow and includes the signature wooden “Hot Topics” table from two seasons ago, replacing the recent acrylic table.
Also new is the official
View mug with stylized pop art designed, which will make its debut the week of September 10.
Meanwhile, ABC has already launched a new online destination for the program that includes a streaming video so that fans can watch "Hot Topics" clips and show segments. According to the network, it will unveil later this year progressive features and functionality that will serve as the show's interactive online community.
Produced by Walters,
The View is a forum in which women discuss everyday issues, straightforwardly share their opinions and engage in lively conversations. Since its launch, it has received 22 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show. The show airs live weekdays at 11am ET on ABC.
