It was reported earlier that former
The View co-host
Rosie O’Donnell expressed her desire to become the next host of the long-running game show
The Price is Right, saying in a video posted in her website that she had been pleading with the show “on a daily basis” and that she “still sends them emails everyday.”
However, after meeting with the producers of the show last week, O’Donnell has decided not to pursue the hosting job, mainly because it would require her to relocate, an issue that was also left unanswered in previous reports.
The 45-year-old television personality posted another video on her website on Sunday, June 24th. In the new video, O’Donnell said that even though she had a “nice lunch” with the show’s producers, she does not feel right about moving her family from their New York residence to Los Angeles, where the show is taped.
O’Donnell also entertained questions from her fans, one of which was regarding her reservations about relocating to
Los Angeles.
"Here's the thing: I don't really need a job," O'Donnell answered. "I'm in a weird position. I don't need the money."
She added, "I know you're not allowed to talk about money in America. But I'm just saying I don't. So to get my entire family uprooted from their lives and move them across the country so that I can have a fantasy childhood indulgence job just doesn't seem fair."
When former
The Price is Right host Bob Barker was backstage at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, he was open to the idea of the O’Donnell taking over the game show.
"She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."
However, Barker later emphasized that what he said should not be equated to a personal endorsement of the former
The View co-host.
Since leaving
The View, O’Donnell has not had good things to say about her former co-hosts. During Cyndi Lauper’s gig at Columbia, Maryland on June 17th, O’Donnell, who appeared as a guest drummer, told the crowd about her experience on the all-female morning talk show.
"I got to tell you, I've been hanging around with those heteros for a full year and it's not fun," she said. "Turn around one minute and they'll stab you in the back with a high heel. They will."
