The Vampire Diaries season 5 premieres as a new and changed show. Elena and Caroline are going to college, while Damon, Jeremy and Matt stay back in Mystic Falls. It's not going to be smooth sailing in either location. They will face new threats that could be the most deadly they've faced so far.
Spoiler Alert: This preview includes The Vampire Diaries spoilers.
Some Hot Action
First up, Delena! They got together at the end of last season and their relationship is holding strong. Elena and Damon spent the summer getting busy with each other. Prepare yourself for a few steaming scenes.
And, then there's a threesome. Yes, really. It's quite captivating to watch, especially an unexpected wicked grin. While it was probably quite fun in the moment, it will have far-reaching and dire consequences.
Stefan and Silas
Elena may be with Damon now, but Stefan has invaded her thoughts. Meanwhile, he's dying over and over again underwater. Who will figure out he's missing?
Silas appears in Mystic Falls as Stefan's doppelganger, but his true identity is revealed in the premiere. Why is he there and what does he want? He may be the biggest threat the group has ever faced.
Bonnie's Still Dead
Bonnie may be dead, but nobody knows that except for Jeremy. The couple has come up with several methods for Bonnie to continue a seemingly normal relationship with her friends and father. How long will the ruse hold up?
Jeremy heads back to high school though his return not without problems. He's not the same guy that he was before he died, though one aspect hasn't changed. He's still a Hunter.
Whitmore College Mystery
Caroline and Elena are determined to have a "normal" college experience. Though, they are sidelined several times throughout the premiere. Caroline may have brought a panini maker with her, but that won't be enough to make it a human experience.
It gets even more complicated when Elena and Caroline get drawn into investigating the past when a tragic event occurs at the college.
Katherine's a Mess
Being human doesn't suit Katherine. She's used to be hunted by Klaus and now she's being threatened by someone else. She's weak as a human. Will she find help? Or, will she be left to try and survive on her own?
It wouldn't be The Vampire Diaries if people didn't die. And, there are deaths ... yes, plural in the premiere.
The Vampire Diaries season 5 premieres on Thursday, October 3 at 8 pm ET on the CW.
