The Vampire Diaries is on a roll with the latest episode getting 4.2 million viewers, the highest since the premiere.  With Vicki dead, it's time to move on to the next chapter of the story, and next week's episode will definitely do that.

"162 Candles" focuses on Stefan's backstory when an old friend comes to visit, and by old, I mean over 300 years.  But with Damon erasing Jeremy's memory and Elena trying to keep Stefan's secret, will their break-up stick, or will Stefan and Elena reignite their romance?

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

Based on these two video clips from the next episode of The Vampire Diaries, it's hard to tell.  Both Stefan and Elena are constantly sending mixed signals to each other, simultaneously telling each other to stay away and come closer.

In the first clip, Elena and her family finish dealing with the cops over the "missing" Vicki and Elena once again has to summon the strength to turn Stefan away because it's hard keeping his secret all to herself.

In the second clip, it seems Elena was unable to stay away, since she dropped by Stefan's place and discovered another woman in nothing but a towel.  This is Stefan's old friend, who he assures Elena is just a friend, but Elena isn't buying it.  Once again, she bemoans the fact that she has this secret and the only person she can tell it to is the one person she can't be around.  Stefan respects her personal space while at the same time promising that he's always there if Elena needs to talk.

I don't know about you, but all these mixed signals are making my head spin.  Elena wants Stefan, but she has to stay away from him, and Stefan agrees to stay away, but wants to be near her.  So much teen angst, so little time.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8pm.
