Only a couple of episodes left before The Vampire Diaries concludes its first season but before that happens, we can expect the show to lay plenty of twists and turns, including the emergence of werewolves, Stefan's dark side and a major death of a series regular. WerewolvesThe Vampire Diaries
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
hasn't really tapped on the werewolf mythology though there have been several hints that suggest Tyler would turn into one. While this week's episode
appears to shed light on Tyler's behavior during the full moon, don't expect a full blown werewolf, at least not anytime soon.
"I think it is more interesting to keep [his inner werewolf] hidden or suppressed," exec producer Kevin Williamson tells Entertainment Weekly
, "and instead play out his aggression and daddy issues and things that are associated with a wolf without making him a wolf." "[The werewolf card will eventually be played because] wherever there are vampires, there are usually wolves nearby," notes Williamson. "My biggest concern is what the weekly special effect is going to look like. That takes careful preparation and a lot of money and some testing. We're working on it now to figure out what we can do that won't just look stupid. And they have to still be sexy -- because, let's face it, we cast these beautiful people for a reason."Team Damon
If last week's episode
is any indication, we'll be seeing more of Stefan's dark side thanks to his seemingly insatiable thirst for blood. And because Stefan is gradually transforming into a different person, fans are likely to have a change of heart when it comes to the Damon-Elena pairing. "I think we are going to find out more about Stefan that might make fans switch teams," Ian Somerhalder says. "He isn't all goodie-two-shoes hero-boy."A Major Death
Now for the most interesting scoop, SpoilerTV
is reporting that there will be a major season finale death on The Vampire Diaries
. Though death is no stranger to Mystic Falls, this particular death is said to be a series regular and deemed a real death, which means there will be no vampire turning or no chance of coming back. An insider has already narrowed down the list to Matt, Jeremy, Caroline, Bonnie, Alaric, and Jenna--which means Elena, Stefan, Damon and Tyler are all safe.
