Founder's Day has finally arrived in Mystic Falls and that means it's time to bid farewell to the first season of The Vampire Diaries
. But as promised, the show is going out with a big bang--complete with fireworks that will literally signify the end for some of our favorite characters.Photos from the Season Finale
In the season ender of The Vampire Diaries
, everyone in Mystic Falls is busy with preparations for the Founder's Day. Caroline has her hands full trying to bridge the gap between Matt and Tyler, while Elena is desperately trying to make peace with her brother Jeremy, who seems to have no plans of reconciling with her. Stefan, on the other hand, has other things in mind. After his awkward conversation with his brother in last week's episode, Stefan remains uncomfortable with Damon and Elena's special bond. Then there's also Jeremy's relationship with Anna, which seems to pose an important question (and hopefully an answer) to the flaw in a vampire-human love story.
Meanwhile, the most interesting thing about "Founder's Day" is what happens behind the festivities. John Gilbert has some kind of devious plan to use Mystic Falls as bate for vampires, which not only brings a tragic end to Founder's Day but also provides Vampire Diaries
fans with an ending that will leave them breathless.
