There will be big changes on The Vampire Diaries season 4. The kids are growing up (or not), the parental units are mostly dead, and Elena may just be a vampire. All of these changes make it necessary for The Vampire Diaries to have a new opening. Check out a video of it here.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

This little segment, designed to play before every episode, is essentially an update of the Stefan-narration clip that played all through season 1 and in to season 2 ("I have to know her..."). But it's not just Stefan talking this time. Instead, we get a whole host of Vampire Diaries characters explaining the show to viewers.

Watch it for yourself here:

In case you did not feel like watching this (or want to wait until it appears before the credits of the Vampire Diaries season 4 premiere), here is the dialog heard while images from past seasons flash by:

Stefan: "Mystic Falls. I was born here. This is my home."
Damon: "And mine."
Elena: "And mine."
Stefan: "For centuries, supernatural creatures have lived among us..."
Caroline: "There are vampires, werewolves, doppelgangers, witches..."
Klaus: "...And even hybrids."
Bonnie: "There are those who protect them."
Alaric (in footage): "The sheriff has a vampire for a daughter. And our lovely mayor's son who is..."
Tyler: "Half vampire, half werewolf."
Jeremy: "And those who want them dead."
Elena: "They're our friends..."
Stefan: "Our enemies..."
Elena: "The ones we love..."
Stefan: "And the ones we've lost."
Elena (in footage): "Matt! Look out!"
Elena: "And then there's me. I'm human. At least I was..."

Did I miss Matt in there? Some of those voices are very hard to tell apart.

Did you like the new cold open? Is this something that would be good to have at the beginning of episodes of The Vampire Diaries? What are you expecting from the upcoming season? Identify the voices and tell us what you think in the comments section below!

The Vampire Diaries season 4 premieres on Thursday, October 11 at 8pm on The CW. Until then, keep up with the latest on Twitter by following BuddyTV and Laurel Brown.
