The last episode of The Vampire Diaries has definitely left us wondering where the show is headed next season: What will happen to Damon and Elena now that he's admitted his feelings for her, albeit to the wrong person? Does Damon know he kissed Katherine? What is Katherine's next move? Answers will soon unfold on the second season of The Vampire Diaries, which will begin production in July in Covington, Georgia, also known as Mystic Falls, Virginia. In the meantime, one thing is for sure--fans can expect a Katherine and Elena face off when the show returns in the fall!

"I can't talk much about it yet," executive producer Julie Plec tells TV Guide. "But one of the big surprises is that Katherine comes face to face with Elena."

As for Nina Dobrev, she looks forward to playing both Elena and her vampire doppelganger Katherine in the same scene even though it could be a really challenging feat. "It will be difficult because a lot of acting is reacting to the other person, but it'll be fun to step out of my comfort zone."

Dobrev, on the other hand, isn't the only Vampire Diaries cast member with a tough challenge ahead because Ian Somerhalder will also find himself playing two different sides of Damon. "It's going to be an emotional roller coaster for me," he predicts. "Damon, with Katherine, is this youthful wide-eyed fun guy who is so intrigued by her -- so different from the maniacal, more mature Damon you see with Elena."

Meanwhile, here's something that will either make you squeal with excitement or cringe with anger. Canadian pop singer Justin Beiber is rumored to have a small role on The Vampire Diaries, according to the Examiner. Though nothing's confirmed yet, sources claim that a Vampire Diaries staff initiated the contract.

The idea of Justin Beiber appearing on The Vampire Diaries isn't that farfetched when you think about it. After all, Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett, has already appeared in Beiber's latest music video dancing to "Somebody to Love." The question is: Do Vampire Diaries fans really want him on the show?

Interestingly, Dobrev has another suggestion, which I'm more in favor of, quite honestly. She wants Ralph Fiennes to appear on the show because he "would be brilliant at being a vampire."
