The Ultimate Fighter 4, Episode 2 Recap
Monday, August 28, 2006
It's only been two episodes, yet I believe I've heard an off-camera Matt Serra yell, "Hamm-ah Fist Elbow" about 8,000 times. If you don't like blood this is not the episode for you.
Team Mojo has good team chemistry and are feeling confident after stealing the power with Shonie's episode one victory. Over a couple fire-pit meetings, Mojo gameplans the rest of the first round, creating match-ups they think they'll win.
Team No Love takes a day off of training. I think they deserve it.
Shonie takes the honor of announcing the match-up for the next fight. This week it's middleweights, and after faking out Charles McCarthy, Shonie announces the two fighters: Gideon Ray (Team No Love) vs. Edwin Dewees (Team Mojo). Gideon and Edwin both sport 0-2 career marks in the UFC.
The first round is boring, most of the time spent on the ground and Edwin winning it easily. Early in the second round, however, Gideon opens up a cut on Edwin's forehead and it starts bleeding profusely. And when I say profusely, I mean profusely. The fight is stopped twice to clean up the blood. I don't know how Gideon is expected to fight with blood being spillt all over him. Gideon wins the second round, setting up a tiebreaker third round. Edwin takes the third round while bleeding all over Gideon.
Edwin wins by unanimous decision and Team Mojo keeps right on truckin'.
