The Tomorrow People is the story of a group of humans who have evolved naturally to have powers. Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell) has a history of unexplainable episodes that trouble him and his mother. He's taking drugs and believes he's crazy, until he meets John (Luke Mitchell) and Cara (Peyton List). They introduce him to a complex and dangerous hidden world.

The CW has released an extended preview of The Tomorrow People. It provides a comprehensive overview of the show's pilot episode, including spoilers. If you want to remain entirely unspoiled for the premiere, I'd steer clear of watching the video.
After watching the below preview, you should have a good feeling about whether or not the series is for you. It does a good job of capturing the tone, intrigue, and characters of the pilot.

The Tomorrow People preview summary
Stephen Jameson wakes up in his neighbor's bed due to a "sleeping disorder." He hears the voice of a woman in his head and he fights it because he thinks he's crazy. The voice in his head tells him, " I can prove you aren't crazy."
He follows her direction and is teleported from a train by John to meet the mysterious voice in his head, Cara. He isn't crazy after all, but Stephen isn't convinced and believes that he's having a psychotic break. John's shocked the teleporting didn't convince him.
In order to prove Stephen's not hallucinating, John elevates him above the ground. They are "The Tomorrow People" with special powers and "The next step in human evolution." Stephen gained these powers from his estranged father who he always thought was a "deadbeat." His view of his father changes after watching a video message from him.
While being bullied by another student at school, Stephen's powers manifest and he emits a force from his hands that pushes the bully down the hallway. His ability surprises him as much as the other student.
The government is hunting people with powers and killing him to extinction. Stephen is taken into custody by Dr. Price (Mark Pellegrino) who admits to Stephen he is "systematically rounding up your kind because I'm evil."
Stephen escapes Dr. Price by teleporting. Cara wants to use Stephen to find his father. And, the teen wants to find out who he really is. Is there no end to his abilities? He stops a bullet in the air!
"The thing is, Stephen, one day you might be the one who saves us." - John
And, the closing shocker ... Dr. Price is Stephen's uncle! "I had a heck of a time tracking you down. It's as if you up and vanished." Whoa!
In addition to the characters seen in the previews, the show's had some amazing additional casting.
Cara's father will be played by Al Sapienza (Person of Interest, House of Cards). It's unclear at this point what role, if any, he plays within "The Tomorrow People" organization or whether he will have powers of his own or not.
And, fresh off filming the Veronica Mars movie, Jason Dohring will be making guest appearances as Killian McCrane. Killian is a former employee of Ultra (the government group run by Dr. Price) who's out for revenge.
What do you think about the show? Will you be tuning in to watch the new series?
The Tomorrow People premieres Wednesday, October 9 at 9 pm ET on the CW.
