Best known for her role in the 1990s series
Baywatch and her appearances in
Playboy magazine, Brande Nicole Roderick was born on June
13, 1974, in Novato, California. In her career, she starred in four erotic movies until landing the role of Leigh Dyer in
Baywatch in 2000. In the same year, she was featured as
Playboy's Playmate of the Month, and, eventually, Playmate of the Year, the first
Baywatch alumna to be afforded such a distinction. In 2003, she starred in a Bollywood film
Out of Control in a role that was originally intended for fellow
Baywatch star and
Playboy model Pamela Anderson.
She also has a string of movie and television credits to her name, such as the 2004 comedy
Starksy and Hutch, the television series
Beverly Hills 90210, and the 2006 horror film
Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror.
In 2003, Roderick was cast in yet another reality show, the very first season of
The Surreal Life. The show features celebrities who are said to be past their primes and puts them in a Hollywood Hills mansion for two weeks. As if this were not enough, unforgiving cameras also follow their every move. In this season, most viewers initially thought Roderick was too whiny for her own good. She softened up later on, though, and became rather innocuous and even well-liked for being a good sport. She even won the
Survivor-type camping challenge. It might have something to do with fellow cast member and actress
Gabrielle Carteris hogging all the annoyance points for being too vocal about virtually everything. Side by side, Carteris made Roderick and
Survivor nymph Jerri Manthe seem like nice people. Other highlights of the season includes actor
Corey Feldman's wedding to his girlfriend at the season finale with no less than rapper turned evangelist
MC Hammer leading the ceremony.
