Dylan and
Cole Sprouse practically grew up under the spotlight. At 8 months old, they appeared in a commercial for toilet paper and on the series
Grace Under Fire from 1993 to 1998 playing one character, Patrick Kelly. As with many identical twin actors, the two have often played the same role, allowing more time for the character to be filmed. They gradually broadened their exposure as they got cast in the film
Big Daddy, as Ross' son Ben on
Friends and for starring on the Disney Channel sitcom
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, where they appear as trouble-making twins who live at the Tipton Hotel.
As a result of the success of
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, the Sprouse brothers are now starring in a spin-off show called
The Suite Life on Deck while still being heartthrobs to preteens and teen audiences.
Despite the glitz and glamour of show business, the Sprouse brothers are starting to realize the downside of being famous.
"It is definitely [as cool as it looks]… it's a win/lose situation. You gain a lot perks and like Disneyland and stuff like that, those kind of perks, but you also loose a lot of the normal kid stuff, just walking around going to the movies kind of stuff," Cole told
Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith.
Part of the “normal kid stuff” Cole is referring to is going to school like an ordinary high school kid. Nevertheless, the Sprouse brothers are not complaining.
"We went to public schools from kindergarten through seventh grade and it was fun. But we also have three hours a day at school so how can we complain?" Dylan said.
"We have to be thankful for what we have. A lot of kids would love to be in our situation and we realize that," Cole added.
Fans can catch the Sprouse brothers on
The Suite Life on Deck every Friday at 8/7c on the Disney Channel.
