Zack Martin Dylan Thomas Sprouse was born on August 4, 1992 in Arezzo, Italy to parents Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright, both former English teachers in an Italian school. Born fifteen minutes ahead of his twin brother Cole Mitchell, Dylan was named after the poet Dylan Thomas. Four months after the birth of the twins, the Sprouse family moved back to the United States, where they raised the twins in Long Beach, California. Five years later, their parents divorced.
Spouse’s grandmother, Jonine Booth Wright, was an actress and drama teacher who suggested that the twins be immersed in acting. At the age of six months, Sprouse shared the role of Patrick Kelly with his brother on the series Grace Under Fire. He again shared a role with his brother in their first major film project, Big Daddy with Adam Sandler in 1999. Since then, Sprouse and his brother went on to appear on I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus in 2002 and Just For Kicks in 2003.
In 2005, the Sprouse brothers took the lead roles in their first major Disney production entitled The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, which garnered huge success. Aside from their sitcom, they are also part of the Disney Channel Circle of Stars, an 11-member group who sang the bonus track A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes in the special edition of the Cinderella film. The twins also appeared in the Disney Channel Games 2006 and 2007.
Aside from acting, the young Sprouse and his brother are also in entrepreneurship, as they went into an agreement with Dualstar Entertainment to create a commercial brand entitled Sprouse Bros. Their products include DVD movies, CDs, clothing, sports gear, video games, ring tones and deodorants, all targeted to the pre-teen and teen consumers. In addition, Dualstar Entertainment collaborated with Leisure Publishing LLC to publish a magazine called Sprouse Bros. Code, which targets boys ages eight to 14. They also teamed up with publishing company Simon Spotlight to release a spy book series, which was released in the summer of 2007. At almost the same time, Simon & Schuster Inc. published the first two volumes of Sprouse Bros. 47 R.O.N.I.N., another book series about the adventures of twins in feudal Japan.
