The Simpsons Game, featuring a donut-wielding giant robot will hit video game stores October 30. Demos of the game are currently available for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3.
The Simpsons Game features our beloved dysfunctional Springfield family as each of them comes to grips with their new video game abilities. Each member of the Simpsons brood has his or her own distinct power to tackle the various challenges in different parodies of popular game titles.
Among the titles included in the Simpsons Game is the "Shadow of the Colossal Donut," which is also the featured installment in the already available demos. In it, a giant robot holding a proportionately impressive donut over its head runs rampage across the city. The ominous mammoth is none other than the Lard Lad statue, one of Springfield's creepiest monsters from the
Treehouse of Horror VI.
The gigantic Lard Lad has returned to life after being shot by Kang and Kodos' Halloween ray and is now threatening to run roughshod throughout Springfield's industrial hub. The fate of the town rests on Homer and Bart, who must use their special video game powers and work hand in hand to subdue the mechanical threat.
Among Homer's unique battle skills is his ability to turn gummy and subsequently hurl gummy grenades at the enemy. He can also transform into an immense ball of lard that squashes his opponents with movement far quicker than his usual pace on foot. For his part, Bart will once again be in his Bartman costume, complete with his trusty slingshot as well as grappling hooks.
Besides "Shadow of the Colossal Donut," the full version game out later this month also features another level called "Medal of Homer." In it, the Simpsons get into uniform to save a French village on the verge of surrender. The object of the game is to remove each one of the twenty-four surrender flags.
The Simpson Game can now be pre-ordered on Amazon with the version for Nintendo's Wii retailing for $49.99, and Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation for $59.99 each.
