It has been more than a month and a half since we were treated to a new episode of
The Simpsons, the last one aired on December 7. Finally, America's favorite animated family returns tonight on our screens with an episode called “Lisa the Drama Queen.”
On the episode, Lisa meets an equally academic and creative new friend Juliet (voiced by guest star Emily Blunt) and together they construct a fantasy world that takes them both a little too far from reality. Also on this episode, Grammy-nominated pop punk band Fall Out Boy performs a special version of the end credits theme.
Blunt, 25, is an English actress best known for her performance as Emily, Miranda's sort of snooty assistant on the film
The Devil Wears Prada, for which she received a Golden Globe Award nom.
Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy will perform a special version of
The Simpsons' end theme on tonight's episode. The band, of course, got its name the sidekick of
The Simpsons character Radioactive Man.
In other news, Fox and
The Simpsons launched January 14 a global celebration of the long-running animated series culminating one year later on January 14 in 2010 on the 20th anniversary of the series' debut. Entitled “Best. 20 Years. Ever,” the celebration will be a worldwide effort honoring “all things Simpson.”
Fox reported that the festivities began with “Unleash Your Yellow,” a poster-making contest for TV's favorite family. The deadline for poster submissions is 11:59 PM ET on March 4, 2009.
The Simpsons is now officially the longest-running comedy in television history, other than being one of pop culture's most enduring icon.
Catch “Lisa the Drama Queen” tonight at 8pm.
