Homer Simpson and the rest of the residents of Springfield are expected to linger on our TV screens for at least another three seasons. Though FOX has yet to officially order the multiple-season deal,
The Simpsons seems to have a good chance at getting picked up, according to the
New York Post.
"The cast is signed for three more years, so I would now say it's about a 90 percent chance we'll come back for at least one of those three," executive producer Al Jean said. "I actually think it's better than a 50 percent chance we'll do three more years of this at least."
If FOX decides to follow through the triple renewal, it would put
The Simpsons at 23 years old, which will make it the longest-running scripted series of any genre.
Meanwhile, fans can catch
The Simpsons, now on its 20th season, every Sunday at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. On tonight's episode called "Dangerous Curves," Homer and Marge's courtship days are blissfully remembered when the Simpson family decide to take a road trip to special summer cabin in the woods. Recounting their earlier years, the couple recalls their first encounter with Flanders and Maude at the very same cabin 20 years ago where Flanders insisted the unmarried Homer and Marge stay in separates rooms.
Furthermore, Homer and Marge also reminisce about the time they each met distracting members of the opposite sex who nearly swept them away from each other. Meanwhile, Bart and Lisa ponder on happier times from their early childhood.
"Dangerous Curves" features a voice ensemble consisting of Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson, Julie Kavner as
Marge Simpson, Nancy Cartwright as
Bart Simpson, Yeardley Smith as
Lisa Simpson, Hank Azaria as Moe, Harry Shearer as Skinner, Pamela Haden as Milhouse, and Tress MacNeille as Dolph.
