As FX's The Shield wraps up filming its final season late last year, one of its stars is set to appear on yet another series on the same cable network, in a recurring role featuring six episodes.

Jay Karnes, who plays the clever but socially ill-equipped detective Dutch Wagenbach in the drama series, just landed a role on Sons of Anarchy, a series about a motorcycle club's effort to protect a small California town called Charming from drug dealers and local real estate and corporate developers.  Karnes, who plays ATF agent Scott Kohn, is joined by Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal and Ron Perlman.

It's interesting to note that Sons of Anarchy is written by The Shield's writer-executive producer Kurt Suttler, who clarified that there shall be no conflict in terms of schedule as The Shield is done with filming its final season, whereas Sons of Anarchy will just start its own.  The two shows, however, are due to premiere in September.

Karnes, 44, is best known for his role on The Shield, now on its 7th season.  His other credits include The Joyriders, The Next Best Thing, and Frasier, Judging Amy, and Star Trek: The Voyager.
