Fans expecting another season of
The Secret Life of the American Teenager won't be disappointed. ABC Family has picked up the highest rated original series in the network's history this past summer for yet another season. The sophomore season order, which was announced Monday by network vice president Kate Juergens, consists of 24 episodes that will tentatively return in the summer.
The renewal follows ABC Family's recent orders of several series, including
10 Things I Hate About You, which is based on the theatrical of the same name, gymnast series
Perfect 10, and comedy
Ruby and the Rockits. Additionally, the network has also ordered 20 and 10 episodes of
Greek and
Lincoln Heights respectively. Both shows are expected to return in the summer as well.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager has really struck a chord not just with our Millennial audience, but with viewers across the board," Juergens said in a statement. "We're delighted to announce the series will return. The success of this show goes directly to creator Brenda Hampton's telling of this heartfelt story and is backed by the standout performances of our talented cast."

The Secret Life of the American Teenager revolves around the relationships between families and friends and how they deal with unexpected pregnancy and other teen issues. The one-hour drama current airs every Monday at 8pm, qualifying as TV's number 1 program in Females 12-34 and cable's number 1 program across all key measures.
Meanwhile, fans can still catch the remaining episodes of the first season of
The Secret Life of the American Teenager. So far, 17 episodes have aired, leaving viewers with 6 more installments to enjoy. The first season's finale will air on March 23.
