The CW is filling up its schedule with two new shows that have earned a lot of buzz early on. The network has picked up
Secret Circle, the new witch drama based on a series of books by the author of
The Vampire Diaries and adapted by Kevin Williamson, and
Hart of Dixie, a drama about a female doctor who moves to the south from the
Gossip Girl team of Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz.
The network has also renewed
One Tree Hill for a 13-episode ninth season. Star
Sophia Bush tweeted the news which is sure to make fans happy.
Nikita also got renewed a second season.
This left
Hellcats out in the cold. The freshman cheerleading drama was canceled, making tonight's 9pm finale its series finale.
These two join
Gossip Girl,
90210,
Supernatural,
The Vampire Diaries and
America's Next Top Model on the CW's schedule, as well as the new Sarah Michelle Gellar drama
Ringer. If that's not enough, the network also ordered a new reality series,
H8er, in which regular people get to hang out with the celebrities they hate (like Kim Kardashian and Snooki).
Secret Circle should be a perfect companion to The Vampire Diaries since it's from the same author and writer. The show stars
Life Unexpected's Britt Robertson,
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' Thomas Dekker and
Hellcats' Gale Harold.
Hart of Dixie, on the other hand, is more of a throwback to the days of
Everwood and reunites Josh Schwartz (who created
The O.C.) with Rachel Bilson. The drama also stars
Friday Night Lights and
The Good Wife star Scott Porter.
This essentially closes out the CW's schedule, as it has 10 shows for the fall, while
H8er will most likely come on in the winter to take over for the
Top Model hiatus.
