The Sarah Jane Adventures Premieres on Sci-Fi Tonight
If the name Sarah Jane sounds terribly familiar to you, then you've most probably heard that name before in the Sci-Fi hit series, Doctor Who. Sarah Jane, played by Elizabeth Sladen, first appeared on Doctor Who as the long-time friend of the Doctor, who has traveled with him throughout the universe, battling evil galactic forces and solving cryptic mysteries along the way. Closing that chapter of her life, she worked as a journalist on Earth, where she often finds herself caught up in new adventures.

Read on to see what's in store in the freshman season of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Now that Sarah Jane Smith (Elizabeth Sladen) has her feet firmly planted on the ground, she is determined to solve every mystery that comes her way. She also receives a helping hand from her young companions, Maria Jackson (Yasmin Paige), and her newly adopted son Luke Smith (Tommy Knight).

Maria Jackson had just moved to Bannerman Road when she encountered Sarah Jane Smith and a friendly visiting alien. Since then, her life changed and her mind was able to conceive a new world filled with mystery and adventure. She often finds herself in some sort of inter-galactic trouble, but much to her relief, her friends are there to save her.

Luke Smith may come off as a normal young boy, but don't just label him as just another kid because he's got what it takes to be the epitome of genius! In fact, he has the brain power of 10,000 people. Luke was grown by the evil Bane as an archetype for their world domination plan. However, he eventually ends up being Sarah Jane's adopted son. He is a fast learner who will use his brain power to save the Earth from its impending doom.

Clyde Langer (Daniel Anthony) is another new kid on the block. However, he finds himself friends with Maria and Luke, with whom he goes on adventures of the extraordinary kind. He's streetwise, and this brings flavor to the blended group who will battle it out with intergalactic forces to save the world.

Chrissie Jackson (Juliet Cowan) is Maria's self-absorbed mother who separated from Maria's father, Alan. She now lives with her boyfriend, Alan, but still makes it a point to see her daughter regularly.

The Sarah Jane Adventures premieres tonight at 7:30 on the Sci-Fi Network.
