Whether you like it or not, MTV’s The Real World is rolling on. The mother of all reality shows turns 21 with its upcoming season, currently filming in New York. The people at newyorkology.com caught a glimpse of the new cast members leaving their home at the Pier 41 building in the Red Hook district of Brooklyn. According to the Michael Martin Agency, who reps many cast members after their stint on television is over, there looks to be 8 cast members instead of the usual 7. The cast appears to be mostly white and Martin thinks he even spotted a gay cast member in the crowd, which would be nice since Hollywood didn’t feature any gay cast members. That still didn’t stop the girls from making out with each other, though!

MTV has no plans to stop The Real World at 21 and casting for season 22 is already getting underway. A location has not been decided yet but should be announced towards the end of season 21. Open casting calls will be announced in the near future but in the meantime, interested applicants can request a casting appointment with Bunim-Murray Productions. The casting company will see those that they think would be a fit for the show in several major cities including: Las Vegas, Nashville, Baltimore, Phoenix, Boston, Salt Lake City, Denver, and New York City.

Michael Martin has posted some tips on his agency’s website as to how to get noticed among the thousands of submissions. His biggest tip is to send in a tape, rather than attend a casting call. The second most important thing that he suggests is for people to not try to fill a certain stereotype or try to be what they think MTV is looking for. “Be real, be yourself, be unique, be entertaining,” he writes.

Before the Brooklyn season premieres, MTV will another Real World/Road Rules challenge called "The Island”, which kicks off September 10th at 10pm ET.
