It goes without saying that if you appear on a reality show, you are going to lose some privacy. Additionally, you will suddenly find that a whole new group of people – mainly complete strangers – will now have opinions about you and your life, and, potentially most frustrating, some stuff you did about sixth months ago when the show was taping that may or may not have anything to do with your current life.
While it's surely tempting to check in with blogs and forums to find out peoples' opinions, one would suspect that a majority of reality show veterans eventually have to avoid such venues if they want to keep their sanity intact.
However, completely avoiding the audience isn't quite possible. And while some people might not be quite as free with their opinions face-to-face as they would be in the anonymity of the internets, sometimes reality stars still have to listen to the unfiltered views of the public. Especially, as
The Real World cast member
Parisa Montazaran recently learned, when the public gets a hold of your phone number.
Parisa recently talked about an experience of unexpected
The Real World fame fallout with the Watching MTV blog. She said “Someone wrote my phone number on the wall at a club called McCoys I think and I started getting phone calls from people late at night who saw the number and wanted to express their feelings.”
“It was funny to get drunk dialed about how I shouldn't waste my time on Dunbar, etc. because it was so long ago,” she says.
However, although Parisa might have lived
The Real World, she is just now seeing how the shows have been edited. She says, “Seeing the show and the way the situation is being drawn out, it really put me in a weird spot where I was cringing and recognizing how big I goofed thinking that this person was my friend, investing time and care into a friendship that definitely isn't being portrayed as mutual.
“My friendship with Dunbar (and other roommates) has its ups and downs and I'm not sure how it's going to be etched out throughout the season ( I see them every week with everyone else) but I left Sydney closer to my roommates and grateful for the experiences we had in bringing us closer.”
