Real World 21It's all systems go for the record-setting 21st season of The Real World.  MTV has given the nod for production on the next edition of the longest-running reality series to begin.  Season 21 moves the show from the west coast to the east for The Real World: Brooklyn.

The current Real World: Hollywood, the 20th installment of the pioneer reality series, has elicited a resurgence in viewership, with the series posting an increase from last year's numbers.  The improved ratings has effectively propelled MTV to the number one post during the 10-11pm bracket on Wednesdays.

"In its 20th season, this pioneer of reality TV is stronger than ever in its new one-hour format,” Tony Disanto, executive vice president for MTV's Series Development and Programming, said.  “Viewers are connecting with the cast and drama of The Real World: Hollywood in a big way, and expanding a half-hour per episode gives them more of what they want, making this must see TV each week.”

In the same statement, Disanto also related the official go-ahead for the succeeding Real World season:  “We're thrilled to also announce the greenlight of season 21, taking the show back to where it all began - New York City,”

"The Brooklyn season, like the Hollywood season, will focus on what people loved about The Real World when it launched in 1992 - genuine people, meaningful conflict and powerful stories," Jon Murray, series co-creator and chairman/president of Bunim-Murray Productions, revealed.  "We're thrilled that MTV is allowing The Real World [to] turn 21!"

Bunim-Murray Productions is scheduled to begin filming The Real World 21 in Brooklyn this summer.  MTV has ordered 12 episodes for The Real World: Brooklyn, which is due to air in the first quarter of next year.  The installments will continue with the new, hour-long format begun with The Real World: Hollywood.
