Exclusive Interview with Alex Smith of The Real World:Denver : Part 2
Part 1/Part 2

Who was the most difficult housemate to get along with, would you say?

Mmm…I’d probably say Jenn.

And why is that?

Um, I don’t know.  Because she just has like a really sparky, kind of like rude way of speaking sometimes, like when she drinks.  It just seemed to me that it was just like if people talked to her the same way she talked to us then there would definitely be a conflict.  But you know to her credit she’s totally kind of like evened out right now and she’s a lot calmer.  I’ve been doing a lot of tours with her and she’s changed a lot.  I think she’s got her shit under control.

So can we talk about your little love triangle for a moment?

Right.

You and Colie, how was that relationship portrayed on TV as opposed to what actually happened?

Um, well they focused more on like the drunk kind of talks and you know like uh, “Let’s date, let’s do this or do that.”  Instead of saying like, showing us just like being friends or hanging out, which is okay because it’s pretty important and it’s important for me to see because I didn’t remember half of it.  I would say, yeah, it’s pretty accurate.  But just like the playboy thing, it’s not encompassing at all.

And how about adding Jenn into that mix?  Was that a pretty accurate portrayal?

Yeah because me and Jenn just hooked up a couple times.  We didn’t have any romantic side to our relationship.

Do you think you’ve changed since the show aired, since you left the house?

Yeah, I think watching myself makes me realize that I’m not nearly as cool as I thought I was.  I was like, “Oh god.”  Like every time I hear myself talk it’s like someone’s scratching a chalkboard.  Yeah, I didn’t learn anything from being on the show but I think watching it is kind of showing me a little bit more of who I am and what I look like to other people.

If you were offered to go on a Duel or a Challenge, would you go?

Hell yeah.

Those seem exciting to you?

Yeah, that seems like way better than the show.

So what have you been doing since the show wrapped?

Um, not working out, procrastinating on my responsibilities, spending some time with my family and friends and stuff, doing a lot of tours, making some money, you know, this and that.

Do you have any big future plans to be in Hollywood or to go back on television?

No, no I don’t.  I don’t think I could swing that actor business but we’ll see.

Would you recommend this experience to other college students or recent graduates?

Uh, to someone like myself, no, but to most people, yeah.
