Love her or hate her,
Beth Stolarczyk is one of the most memorable
Real World cast members of all time. Since appearing on season 2 of The Real World, which took place in Los Angeles, Beth has made a career out of being the bad girl on the season challenges. She has been seen on
The Challenge,
Battle of the Seasons,
Battle of the Sexes,
The Inferno II,
The Gauntlet II and
The Duel. This month, Hurricane Beth blows into Mexico for The Gauntlet 3. The show premieres Wednesday, January 23rd at 10pm ET and promises crazy fights, surprising alliances, unexpected departures and more hook-ups than ever. To get us ready for the newest season challenge, Beth talked to BuddyTV today. She may not have been able to give a lot away but she sure didn't hide her dislike for her fellow cast members!
Below, you will find the complete mp3 and transcript of the interview.
Hey everybody. This is Gina from BuddyTV, and I'm talking to Beth from MTV's The Gauntlet 3.
Hi, how are you?
I'm good. Thanks so much for doing the interview, I really appreciate it.
Yeah, no problem.
I'm wondering what made you decide to come back for another challenge and do The Gauntlet 3.
Gosh, the main reason why I came back...well you know, I always have a hope that in the next show, whatever it's gonna be, because when we go we don't know what the show's going to be, if it's going to be a Gauntlet or an Inferno or something new. You never know what the rules of the game are gonna be, so I always go with the hope of it being just a solid competition without it being a popularity contest.
Were you happy with the group of people that were assembled for The Gauntlet?
Wow. Well, not particularly, no.
You have such a reputation for being a bad girl on these challenges, and they put you on this season with Coral and Katie, so will there be any drama with you guys?
Oh yeah, there's definitely going to be some drama. People think that we're all bad girls for different reasons.
Is there anybody on this season that you really butted heads with?
No, I got along just fine with everybody. [laughs]
You're too funny.
I mean yeah, I definitely butt heads with a lot of people. That doesn't go away. If you butt heads with somebody on one show you're going to butt heads with them again, that's the way it is. It's a frigging ongoing soap opera.
Are you okay with that stigma of being the MTV bad girl when you go on these challenges?
Well, it's a game. We're all playing a game. This is not the real world, it's a game. It is disappointing that a lot of the people that come off the shows just automatically think of this like pumped up version. That I'm just like this horrible, evil villain, and if that's what people want to think then, you know, people can think that. That's fine if they're not gonna take the time to sniff around and get to know what I'm all about. If that's what they think I am then that's what I'm gonna be.
When you arrived for The Gauntlet 3 was there anyone there who you were most happy to see or be reunited with?
Uh, no.
But at least you're honest.
No, I'm not excited to be reunited with anybody on these shows. I'm excited by the possibility of winning the prize at the end, which is the money.
There are a lot of people who are new to these challenges. Was it really obvious to you, people who had been around doing these for awhile and people who are brand new to them?
Well, I just think most of the people are pretty much dumb, and they fall into the trap of trusting people that they shouldn't. They keep doing it over and over and over again, like an abusive relationship. I really don't understand why they do that.
When I watched the preview for The Gauntlet 3 there was some pretty surprising things, one of them being that Brooke apparently likes to make out with girls now. Do you ever just stand around and wonder what you've gotten yourself into when you look at these people?
Yeah! I mean, it's unbelievable to me the things that these people will do. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Again, I think a lot of the people on these shows are really low class. I'm not gonna say all, because there are people that I definitely like, but I do feel like a lot of these people are very low class. I don't understand who raised a lot of these people and who their parents are. It's really scary.
Well what can we expect from you in this season of The Gauntlet? Anything good and juicy?
I think people will be surprised by a lot of things. It's hard for me to say anything without giving anything away, you know?
It's true, I think we're just going to have to watch and see for ourselves what you do on The Gauntlet 3.
Yeah, I mean these shows are crazy, you never know what's going to happen with the mix of people that they put together. It'll definitely be...people will be entertained, for sure.
Looking back on it, are you glad that you returned for The Gauntlet 3?
Oh yeah, I'm definitely happy I did it. And you know what, I'll probably do one again.
Well, we wish you the best of luck. We hope everything goes your way, we love watching you on the show, and thanks so much.
Thanks Gina, thank you. It was really nice talking to you.
