Lydia continues to grow closer to Tamra and Heather. Vicki has a date with ex-boyfriend Brooks, and learns some disturbing news. Slade and Gretchen's relationship is tested by a serious family issue. Heather gets a career boost, while her marriage is showing some signs of wear and tear. Let's dissect tonight's episode of Real Housewives of Orange County.

Ladies Who Lunch

Lydia, Tamra and Heather meet up for some "champs," lunch and gossip. In the Real Housewives of Orange County, where everybody "conveniently" knows somebody on this show, we learn that Lydia's mom is a patient of Heather's husband. Apparently, the woman is a bit cracked because she likes to sprinkle glitter or "fairy dust" on people. The logic behind this is that it promotes good will and humor because who can get pissed when covered in glitter? In the same breath, Lydia states that her mother is a very centered woman without a trace of irony.

Conversation turns inevitably to Alexis. Lydia's pretty loyal to Alexis given she's only known the woman for a few months. Shockingly, Lydia actually believes she can maintain her friendship with Alexis and the other women at the same time without conflict. First of all, where is the fun in that? Secondly, Alexis is bound to view it as a betrayal no matter how much she may say otherwise. Finally, who doesn't want to see this wide-eyed, sweet nymph get corrupted by the other womens' black hearts?

It seems that the ladies have been exposed to behavior regarding Alexis that viewers have not been privy to, making their hostility seem unfounded. Lydia even says she doesn't know what has caused this rift. Well, that would be because Alexis acts like an innocent victim. She did tell Lydia to ask the women herself to find out the source of the never-ending animosity. So while she tells Heather and Tamra that Alexis has never done anything to her personally, she confides that she does see some behavior from the woman that is perplexing.

As far as Tamra and Heather go, it's pretty simple. They think she has a dark side that definitely contradicts what she tries to portray about herself, and they strongly believe that Alexis should be accountable and up front about any less than Christian behavior. Do I think that they would forgive and forget if Alexis was more forthright and genuine? No, not really. But acting as if they would, allows them to continue to bash her. We all know Alexis is unlikely to have an epiphany and confess her sins. So even though Alexis is content to forget the past and move forward, Heather, Gretchen and Tamra want her to repent and it won't be by saying Hail Marys.

Brooks or Bust

After installing a car seat in grandma Vicki's car, Vicki decides to have a chat with her son-in-law. Even if Brooks is a complete creep, it is Vicki's right to date him and have him visit her in her home. Just like it is Briana and Ryan's choice to not want to associate with the southern gentleman. Vicki asks Ryan to respect her choices, but he's not budging. Next comes the emotional blackmail when Ryan threatens to abandon Vicki if she doesn't adhere to the rules set forth by Briana and Ryan. This conflict is all a bit confusing because Vicki and Brooks are supposed to be broken up. Also, Vicki agreed to the terms of Briana and her little family living with her and now she's trying to change the rules.

Dark Days for Golden Couple Gretchen and Slade

Gretchen and Slade are back from NYC, but the news regarding Slade's son's health isn't great. Slade is trying to balance his job and Gretchen in California while also being present for his son. Gretchen tearfully admits that she has had to, once again, put her own dreams of motherhood on the back burner. Slade recognizes that Gretchen feels it is insensitive to bring up the subject while Slade's son is so ill. Which, it would be.

Even though Slade is committed to his son, he assures Gretchen that their life together will move forward. It makes you wonder if Gretchen regrets putting everything on hold due to Slade's financial problems. I think it's time Gretchen learns that there is no perfect time to have a baby. After everything she went through with Jeff, you would think she'd be a bit more impetuous. It is interesting to see Slade as the devoted dad after the beating he took for his child support issues. It just goes to show that being a parent is about more than money, or Slade is painting himself in a more flattering light and doing so by exploiting his son's poor health. I hope it is the former.

Vicki's Choice

Vicki meets up with "ex" Brooks for a dinner date. Vicki jumps right in and asks him what they are doing to which Brooks responds "having dinner." Vicki admits that she is still in love with Brooks and she wants him back in her life. Vicki asks Brooks if he's dating other people and he says yes. This sets her off. He backtracks a bit as she begins to interrogate him, but one thing is clear, Brooks is not going to wait for Vicki forever. She tells him that she will not have Briana leave her house. Brooks argues that if the situation was reversed, and they lived in his house, they would live by HIS rules. Vicki tells Brooks she's in love with him but she's being pulled in different directions. Brooks points out that Briana ran off and got married and hasn't compromised her happiness. I do feel sorry for Vicki but to refer to Brooks as "the love of her life" is a bit nauseating. I think Vicki is feeling old and desperately afraid of winding up alone.

Trouble in Paradise?

It seems that Heather changing her last name to Dubrow might have been premature after all. The family goes out for dinner and she grows exasperated with Terry's behavior and comments almost immediately. Heather received an offer to guest star on the show Hot in Cleveland. Although Terry initially seemed excited and has claimed how much he supports his wife's career in the past, he's acting awfully passive aggressive as they discuss the logistics of balancing his career, their kids and Heather's golden opportunity. Heather has shown some increasing exasperation regarding Terry's schtick this season, but she's especially touchy on this particular evening.

I can't wait to see how some of these story lines pan out. I continue to be fascinated by Lydia, and the revelation of her unconventional upbringing. Something tells me her mom will outdo even Mama Elsa from The Real Housewives of Miami.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Mondays at 9pm on Bravo.
