Vicki Gunvalson recently talked about how doing The Real Housewives of Orange County was one of the reasons that she and her husband separated. Now she’s saying that although she and Donn Gunvalson aren’t officially divorced, she is experiencing “divorce remorse.”

“It stinks to get divorced, especially when you still have feelings for that person,” Vicky told HuffPost Live earlier this week. “I have a lot of divorce remorse. I mean, I really, really do.”

Though she has pointed to doing the show as a source of contention in her marriage in the past, she also takes responsibility for her own part in the downfall of her relationship.

“In hindsight, I wish I would have worked harder on the marriage,” she said. “I think I messed up on some areas and he messed up too. It takes two people to get married, it takes two people to get divorced.”

Vicki admits that while she wishes she had tried even harder, she did put forth what effort she could. They tried counseling and taking vacations and more alone time, but things just didn’t work out.

“It got to a place where we didn’t like each other. It was almost harder to stay together than it was apart, and then when the apart happened, it was like, ugh — I miss him.”

As for if there is any possibility that the two will reconcile, Vicki looks at situations like Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes getting remarried to her ex-husband as an example of hope, although she thinks it’s an unlikely outcome for her and Donn. But she does say that they’ll always be family.

“I will always love Donn. I met him when I was 21 and got married when I was 32. I’ve known him my whole adult life. He’s a great man, we just drifted apart and couldn’t figure out a way to get back together.”

That’s all well and good, but no mention was made of her current boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, who Vicki said she had reunited with just two months ago.
