'Real Housewives of Orange County': Top Reactions to Slade's 'Comedy' Act

On last night's episode of Real Housewives of Orange County, Slade Smiley, boyfriend of star Gretchen Rossi, tried his hand at comedy with a stand-up routine at the Improv Theater. Now, we use the term "comedy" loosely because it was more like a cringe-worthy set that included air-thrusting.

While reactions from viewers may have included a great deal of squirming in their seats, here's what a few of his Real Housewives co-stars and other celebs had to say:

Tamra Barney
Tamra had this misfortune of being the butt of one of Slade's many attempts at jokes. At one point, he called her fat and compared her to Miss Piggy (are you kidding me with the fat jokes? What is she a size four?!).

Inaccuracies aside, Tamra tweeted this during last night's episode, "I have yet to see a comedy show where someone wasn't getting ripped apart for a good laugh... I'm okay with it, but did you hear anyone laughing?" She also tweeted a picture of herself in a bikini, looking like the opposite of Miss Piggy (would that be Janice?) saying, "Miss my ass Slade."

Alexis Bellino
Alexis, who was present for the bomb of an act, wrote on her Bravo blog, "Slade's comedy act was definitely hurtful to Vicki and Tamra, and I don't think it's funny to make fun of other people, especially as part of an act where they aren't able to defend themselves."

She also wrote something, that for Alexis, makes an extreme amount of sense: "Slade's mom should get her own comedy act! She is just the funniest person ever. Her reaction to Slade proposing to Gretchen was classic. She makes me laugh every time she is on the show. I think she needs to be incorporated more frequently!"

Who would have thought that a day would come where we would agree with anything Alexis had to say.

Heather Dubrow
Heather also wrote in her Bravo blog after attending the show, "There were a lot of inside jokes that Terry and I didn't understand. We'd never seen RHOC before joining so many of the references of past 'wives on the show went over our heads."

She also seemed understanding of Slade's attempt to to go on stage. "Doing comedy is very difficult... I give Slade a lot of credit for getting up on the stage and trying it out! I also think in comedy you write about what you know, which he did...I just feel that if you are going to make fun of a group, make fun of everyone in the group... or else it can look targeted and malicious."

These are pretty gentle words coming from someone who gave the show a "three out of ten" rating during an interview that aired on the show.

Gretchen Rossi
Gretchen, of course coming to her BF's defense, wrote on her Bravo blog about details about Slade's show that didn't make the final cut of RHOC.

"Since the Improv show was an hour long you couldn't see the whole thing," she wrote. "So you missed a lot of our jokes. However let me set the record straight, the show was sold out and the laughs were rolling all night."

Sure they were, Gretchen. Sure they were.

Bonus Thoughts
Actress Alexandra Wentworth, last night's guest on Watch What Happens Live, said, "My six-year-old makes better jokes than that."

Greg Bennett, of Real Housewives of New Jersey tweeted last night during the episode, "I have second, third, fourth and fifth hand embarrassment for Slade and his attempts at standup. I want to jump out the window."

Yeah, that pretty much seems to accurately sum up everyone's thought on the matter.
