If you think that going on a reality TV show will make you filthy rich, think again! The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Caroline, Dina, Danielle, Jacqueline and Teresa are reportedly participating on the Bravo reality series for free. For these ladies, getting more than 15 minutes of fame may be worth all the pain and suffering they've endured throughout the inaugural season. However, the price that these girls have to pay isn't.
According to documents obtained by Popsquire, not only are the ladies not paid by the network for their appearances on the show, they actually owe Bravo 10 percent of "any and all gross income... unrelated to the series" that they earn for up to four years after the last original Real Housewives of New Jersey episode airs.
The obtained contract reportedly belongs to one of the cast members of The Real Housewives of New Jersey
which was signed in February.
While these girls are already living in comfort (and probably don't really need the money), it makes you wonder why some people would subject themselves to this kind of arrangement. It also makes you wonder if other cast members of The Real Housewives
franchise have signed a similar contract.
Meanwhile, this report is quite the opposite of the news that surfaced just last month. As reported previously, The Real Housewives of New Jersey
is likely to come back for a second season after delivering gossip-worthy ratings ever since it premiered in May, though Bravo hasn't released an official statement regarding the second season order. The hold-up is allegedly due to the girls holding out for much bigger paychecks.
"There's no premiere date, but everyone knows it's going to be a huge hit. The reason it has taken so long to announce is that once the show became such a hit, the women held out for much bigger paychecks," the insider revealed.
