Kathy Wakile of The Real Housewives of New Jersey
may normally be one of the more low-key members of the cast, but she has certainly been making a splash at the season 4 reunion with her new look and her vicious fight with her cousin, Teresa Giudice
First off, Kathy talked about viewers' reactions to her new look, which included a nose job, lip plumping and longer, lighter hair extensions for the reunion.
"Pretty much everything was favorable," Kathy told Celebuzz
about the reaction to her surgery. "You know, you always have those naysayers that say, 'Oh, what happened, you sold out,' or whatever, but this is something I've been thinking about for a long time, over a course of 20 years, believe it or not."
She also says that the change is not as drastic as it would appear to be from the reunion. Her lips were done only 10 days before taping and have since lost a lot of swelling to the point where it's barely noticeable. Also, she credits the "glam squad" responsible for making her look so over-the-top for the reunion, as the ladies often strive to do.
"I had a great doctor that clearly knew what I was looking for and agreed with me," she said. "He didn't want to change my appearance at all."
As for her messy fight with Teresa at the reunion, Kathy feels bad about bringing other family members into the fight, but she felt like she needed to ward off Teresa's attack.
"I felt badly about it after, because that's really not been in my character to do that," Kathy said to Celebuzz
. "I've always had so much respect for my uncle and aunt, and even at last year's fashion show when my aunt lashed out at me when I was simply just trying to have a conversation with Teresa. She had no idea what our conversation was about and she just lashed out at me. Of course, protecting her daughter and I respect that. And that's why I did not react to her. I just kept my mouth shut."
While respecting family is important, Kathy said that the moment Teresa brought up Kathy's marriage, she crossed a line.
"When Teresa tried to pick apart my marriage at the reunion and then blame it on her mother, well, that was cowardly in itself," she said. "How much more am I going to take from her when I've only tried to be gracious and try to help her and try to be right with her, and this is what you're going to do? Come on. I draw the line somewhere."
Well, there's one more part of the reunion to go, and next week they're bringing out all the husbands. And in all likelihood, Rich Wakile will have a few choice words for Teresa as well. (Image and video courtesy of Bravo)
