In case you hadn't heard already, things didn't end so well in the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey
when two of the house-husbands, Joe Gorga and Joe Giudice (husbands of Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice, respectively), came to blows. Now Melissa and Teresa are offering their perspectives on how things got so out of hand.
RHONJ: Kathy Wakile Reacts to the Battle Between the Joes >>>
"Joe and I were skeptical about the retreat from the start," Melissa wrote on her Bravo blog
. "I know that everyone wanted us to walk in, put on a happy face and say that everything would be okay, but that's just not reality. There have been too many times when we put a band-aid on our issues with Teresa, and we would always fall back to the same negative place. We decided if we were going to go to this retreat, we weren't going to be fake."
Unfortunately, from the beginning, Teresa claimed she could sense something wrong with Melissa's attitude.
"I was really nervous especially when everyone arrived and it seemed like everyone except Rosie really didn't want to be there," Teresa wrote on her Bravo blog
. "I could tell their hearts were not open and it broke mine. I wondered why they even came at all."
Teresa went on to claim that her "blood vs. water" speech given to her brother had been about co-star Jacqueline Laurita, not meant as a dig at her sister-in-law. She just meant that in the case of the Posche fashion show last year, her brother should not have believed what Jacqueline said about it being a set-up to out Melissa as a stripper.
"But every time I tried to get through to Joey, Melissa would whisper in his ear," Teresa wrote. "Maybe if Melissa got on her knees in front of me before this point, we wouldn't have any of these problems! If she was only that humble normally ... Needless to say, her big dramatic pose had nothing to do with being humble or serious. She only did it to make me look bad."
But obviously, Melissa's dramatic begging wasn't the ugliest things got that evening. But at least Melissa is hopeful that they can grow from the experience.
"We started off awkward, got angry, and then furious, and spiraled down until we were at the lowest of the low," Melissa explained. "While we were in Lake George, we were as mean and petty and disrespectful as we'd ever been in the 10 years we've known each other. They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can climb your way out. You'll find out if 'they' are right." Don't miss what happens next on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
