Last night's episode
of The Real Housewives of New Jersey
was the first part in a two-part episode where two of the house-husbands and brothers-in-law, Joe Giudice (husband of Teresa Giudice) and Joe Gorga (husband of Melissa Gorga), went at each other in a violent physical brawl. Teresa and Joe Gorga's cousin Kathy Wakile was there when it happened and she shared her reaction last night on Watch What Happens Live

Andy Cohen pointed out that Kathy was the first one to try and stop things from escalating when she chimed in and told Joe Gorga that it wasn't right for him to call his sister Teresa "scum."
"This wasn't about that. It was about healing," Kathy said. "And I knew he was going to feel bad afterwords, it was just an impulse thing. And I knew that it was going to go nowhere fast. And it did."
Kathy's sister Rosie Pierri was also at the retreat when things got out of control, which she says probably couldn't have been avoided.
"It was a lot of built-up stuff and it was going to pop," Rosie said on WWHL
. "Whether it popped then or popped later on, it was going to happen. It was inevitable. There was a lot of stuff going on. And you know what, it's okay, people fight. And then hopefully they make up."
Kathy continued to defend Joe Gorga's behavior, saying that the old saying of "Hurt people hurt people" stays true when it comes to her family.
"We didn't know what to expect, it was so heated," Kathy said. "I know Joe didn't mean it. Sometimes you just impulsively say something, and it's your sibling so you know what will hurt her the hardest."
As for who is to blame for allowing things to have gotten as far as they have, Kathy says that Teresa is not 100% to blame for everything.
"I definitely think we both played a part in it," Kathy said. "We did a lot of talking and not enough listening. And so I think we both played our part in it. To say that one person is totally blameless would be very, very unfair."
Kathy also said that sometimes being in the middle of Melissa and Teresa can be quite tiring. Especially because all of them are family.
"It's never any fun being in the middle. But if you are in the middle, you try to do the best you can to makes things cohesive for everybody. I mean, it's got to be somebody, it might as well be me."Don't miss the fallout from the fight on the next episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
