During the season 3 premiere of The Real Housewives of Miami, viewers were surprised to learn that neither Marysol Patton nor her mother, Mama Elsa, would be appearing on the show in the capacity that they had been for the last two years. On her Bravo blog, Marysol goes into more detail about her new role on the show and, more important, her mother's health.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

"This year, I am back as a supporting cast member, in the role of a friend of the Housewives," Marysol confirmed. "I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of RHOM again, because it has kept me very busy and occupied during a difficult time in my life."

Marysol then went into detail about Mama Elsa's medical crisis.

"A few days before we started filming, I received a call from my mom's household staff that they had arrived at the house and found her unconscious on the floor of her bedroom," she wrote. "I immediately called 911 and drove over to her home. She was shaking and unable to walk or barely sit up and her eyes were fixated staring up to left. The paramedics carried her down the stairs wrapped in a sheet to the ambulance and she was rushed to the hospital."

After that, the doctors informed Marysol that they need to operate on her mother's brain immediately to relieve the pressure of blood that had accumulated in her brain that caused the swelling. The surgery was a success, but Mama Elsa would have a long road to recovery ahead of her.

"As you can imagine, this has been the most painful crisis I have had to live through in my life. I have always been extremely close to my mother and not being able to talk to her was agonizing. It is difficult to describe the hurt and fear that I felt, and how it kept me up many nights crying. I have tried to stay positive, always sending mom light and visualizing her healthy and strong, for now that is the only thing that keeps me going."

Although Mama Elsa is still recovering, Marysol is very thankful for all of the support she has received from fans of the show.

"Thank you again for all the prayers for Mama, I already feel her healing from everyone's love," she tweeted yesterday.
