Porsha Stewart of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has already stated that her husband and former NFL star Kordell Stewart filing for a divorce came as a shock (something that is very apparent from her discussion about her marriage on the reunion that aired this week). But what is even more shocking is that she found out about the divorce through Twitter.

“I literally was lying in bed and I looked at Twitter and it was going crazy,” Porsha told ABC News. “I saw on Twitter that my husband has filed for divorce.”

At first, Porsha thought they were just rumors; in fact, her husband was just down the hall in the same house at the time.

“It wasn’t a confrontation,” Porsha said. “It was me just simply asking my husband, ‘Had you filed?,’ which seemed crazy coming out of my mouth. He said he thought about it and we’ll talk about it later, and he left for work. I had to call my attorney to find out.”

It wasn’t until Porsha called her lawyer that she found out that he had indeed filed divorce papers.

“I feel heartbroken and at times I feel ashamed,” she said. “Because I put myself out there to the world as a wife and I was proud to be married; and for it to end the way it did, it’s almost like a failure in a way.”

While Porsha revealed earlier during the season that she did not sign a prenuptial agreement when she married Kordell, he claimed in the divorce petition that she is an “able bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself.” Porsha has since counter-filed for alimony and ownership of their Atlanta mansion, where they are both still living, according to ABC News.

“Really, what I want is what’s fair, whatever that might be. I just want to be happy,” she said.

Porsha’s marriage was a topic of scrutiny among viewers and fellow castmates this season, who viewed him as being controlling and insensitive. But Porsha doesn’t blame her marriage’s critics for its dissolution.

“They called him controlling and that was hard for me to deal with. I will not blame this divorce on anyone but the person who filed, and that is my ex.”
