For the last few episodes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss has had to ward off attacks from her own mother, Mama Joyce, as she’s vocalized her negative opinion about Kandi’s fiance, Todd. It’s no wonder that she got emotional when she stopped by Watch What Happens Live last night.

When Andy Cohen, prompted by tweeters and callers, asked Kandi if the reason Mama Joyce didn’t like Todd was because she was worried that Kandi getting married would stop the cash flow to Mama Joyce, Kandi got very defensive.

“My mother, she can be fine without my help,” Kandi said. “But I feel like as her daughter it’s my job to make sure she’s good. She made sure I was good growing up; I’m going to make sure she’s good. I don’t care if she doesn’t like my relationship, that’s my mom. I’m gonna make sure my mama’s good … she can have whatever she wants, because that’s my mama.”

Kandi also admitted that her mom isn’t speaking to her right now after the last few episodes have aired and how the public has reacted to her. Apparently, Mama Joyce doesn’t like being called a “gold digging mama” from the Twitterverse, and poor Kandi’s getting the blame.

“So many of you tweet about how you think I should deal with my mom,” Kandi wrote on her Bravo blog. “I love my mom, and I will always give her the utmost respect. I know she can be a little tough, but I believe she really does want the best for me even if I don’t like the way she goes about it.”

She also claims that she’s handling her mom in the ways she knows how, but she can’t just take everyone’s advice and cut her mom out of her life.

“Everyone says stand up to your mama and blah, blah, blah, but believe it or not I do speak my mind to my mother,” she wrote.”I just don’t say it in some crazy disrespectful way, because she is my mother. So to everyone who is screaming at me through the TV screen to ‘do something about my mom,’ I’m not sure exactly what you expect me to do. I can only say how I feel, and if she doesn’t listen to me, then what? I don’t believe in cutting off your relationship with your mom. So for now I’m just hoping that over time things will work out for the best.”

Kandi also doesn’t appreciate the fact that Wendy Williams had so many negative things to say about her relationship on her show, and that she definitely thinks it affected the way her mom felt about her fiance.

“Last year, every week, Wendy was coming on saying negative things about my relationship with Todd,” Kandi said on WWHL. “And then my mom would come back, ‘Yeah, Wendy said…’ every week. And I was like, I don’t care what Wendy said … let’s ask her about her past!”
