The beginning of a new season of The Real Housewives is always the best (well, maybe with the exception of the reunion specials). There are plenty of high hopes to whatever kind of crazy drama the season has in store and none of the disappointment that comes with having just watched a lackluster season.

The last season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta may be described as one of its less entertaining seasons. Phaedra Parks started a new career in the funeral business, while Cynthia Bailey attempted to open a modeling agency and help her husband start another night club in Atlanta (after the other one shut down). Sheree Whitfield was still trying to build her dream home, and Kim Zolciak moved into hers with her Prince Charming and new family. NeNe Leakes kick-started her career in acting and was still recovering from her divorce, and Kandi Burruss ventured into the country music genre and started a sex toy line.

There was the Talls versus the Smalls and black-baby-gate, but there were no blowups or feuds for the record books. Maybe that is partially the reason they decided to send Sheree packing and hire two new cast members.

New Wives

Kenya Moore, the first of the two new wives, was the Miss USA winner in 1990 and has since appeared in movies (Waiting to Exhale), television shows (CSI) and music videos. She also founded the Kenya Moore Foundation that awards scholarships to under-privileged girls from her hometown, and continues in the entertainment industry working as a director and producer.

The other new cast member is Porsha Stewart, who was born and raised in Atlanta. She is the granddaughter of the famous Civil Rights activist Reverend Hosea Williams, and she is married to former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart. After marrying Kordell, Porsha became a step-mom to his son, Syre, and she does a lot of volunteer work with her woman's group in her church, as well as raising money for cancer research and awareness.

New Dynamic

RHOA has had the same core cast for the past few seasons now, so the new cast members will surely shake things up. And let's not sugarcoat anything here; judging by the previews, Kenya looks like a real piece of work.

"I'm very resilient. I'm not afraid of anything," Kenya told the New York Post. "So some reality stars from Atlanta? No, I wasn't afraid of any of them. I've been to the Academy Awards, I'm not afraid of a Housewife!"

Not only that, but Kenya definitely doesn't look afraid to scam on Miss Phaedra's man, Apollo, in the preview for the upcoming season. We've never seen Phaedra lose her temper, but we have a feeling it wouldn't be pretty. Also, seriously, Kenya? Back off!

As for the other housewives, it looks like Kandi is finding new love. And NeNe is dealing with the fact that although her divorce from her husband, Gregg, may be finalized, it doesn't necessarily mean an end to their relationship.

Unfortunately, it looks like Kim is going to have less involvement in this season due to the harsh pregnancy of her second son, Kash. But what's this? Might there be hope for a NeNe/Kim reconciliation in the future? Maybe it will be their disdain for one of the new wives that urges them to join forces. We can only hope! Remember how fun those two were together back when they liked each other? And maybe that's just what this season needs to be better than the last.
