Lisa Gay Hamilton is an American movie director and television actress born on March 25, 1964 in Los Angeles, California. The daughter of a social worker and a real estate agent, she began acting onstage as a child and attended summer drama camps. She graduated from New York University with a degree in theatre, and went on to earn her master's degree from the Juilliard School. She has appeared in a number of feature films, among them
Twelve Monkeys,
True Crime, and
The Sum of All Fears. She has also worked on various television series such as
Sex and the City,
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and
Numb3rs.
Rebecca Washington is played by Lisa Gay Hamilton in the Emmy Award-winning legal drama series
The Practice. She starts out working as a receptionist for the firm and occasionally as a paralegal. She has also passed the bar exam after attending law school at night, though no one at the firm knew this for a long time. She is close to Bobby, and has worked for him ever since he opened his first practice by himself. She leaves the firm later on for unknown reasons.
