Camryn Manheim is an Emmy Award-winning American movie and television actress born on March 8, 1961 in Caldwell, New Jersey. Her interest in acting was spurred on after she participated in a Renaissance fair during high school. She graduated from the University of California with a BFA degree, and then later went on to earn a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from New York University. Before she pursued her acting career, she worked as a sign language interpreter for hospitals. She has appeared in feature films such as Eraser, Wide Awake and Dark Water. Aside from her work as an actress, she’s also a human rights activist who regularly campaigns for women’s rights and supports various charities.

Ellenor Frutt is portrayed by Camryn Manheim in the Emmy Award-winning legal drama series The Practice. She is another partner at the law firm, and juggles her work with being a single mother and raising a child, as well as with her weight issues. She occasionally has problems relating to self-confidence because of her appearance, and she had her offspring through artificial insemination. Most, if not all of her friends, seem to be murderers, which the series treats as a running gag. They typically reveal to her that they’ve been charged with murder, and that they keep getting found with unexplained dead bodies in their midst which they claim to not know anything about.
