Brand new drama The Philanthropist will join the peacock network's lineup soon, as it is set to premiere on June 24 on NBC.  The series stars James Purefoy as billionaire playboy turned vigilante Teddy Rist, who decides to channel his passion, power, and money into helping those in need.  The successful and impulsive tycoon loves all things hedonistic, women, money, and power.  After the tragic death of his only child, however, he experiences an awakening and takes on the distinction of being the world's first vigilante philanthropist - "a renegade billionaire" who helps those in need.

As a result on the new NBC series, Teddy is choosing to dodge bullets in third world countries to hand-deliver vaccines rather than his usual $25,000 meals at fundraisers.  The series has been called "an inspiring global adventure" that will take viewers to the ends of the earth.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

As it turned out, however, Teddy's actions are not all altruistic.  He's also trying to purge his soul to help exorcise the inner demons that have been bothering him since his young son died and it appeared that he lost everything he loved.  He feels the danger and risk to his life is the only way he can feel genuinely alive, to finally escape being "a man who has everything but can feel nothing."

Other than British-born Purefoy (Rome, Resident Evil), The Philanthropist cast includes Jesse Martin of Law and Order as Teddy's business partner and friend Philip Maidstone and Neve Campbell of thrillers The Craft, Scream, and Wild Things plays Philip's wife Olivia.
