The Originals is the spinoff of the hugely popular series The Vampire Diaries.

Fans were introduced to the world of The Originals on an April episode of The Vampire Diaries. By the time The Originals premieres in the fall, the time that passed would've been too long, so there will be sort of a "retelling" of the pilot, with changes made to fit the spinoff like scenes cut and scenes added.

Not only is the time length key to retell the story, but it will be an opportunity for those who don't know anything about The Vampire Diaries franchise to get a fresh start. The cast and creator dished on what else viewers can expect.

Who's Here:
Joseph Morgan (Klaus)
Claire Holt (Rebekah)
Daniel Gillies (Elijah)
Charles Michael Davis (Marcel)
Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley)
Julie Plec (Creator and Exectuive Producer)

"The Originals is a coming-of-age story," Plec said. It will be bold, thrilling, sexy and dangerous, with the series taking on a more darker tone. Here's what's ahead for the characters:

Elijah: One of the changes made to the pilot is that it will be told in Elijah's point of view. He's headed to New Orleans to find out what his brother is up to. That isn't easy in a way because he loves Katherine but his family comes first.

Klaus: Plec said Caroline is the Buffy to Klaus' Angel, which means Klaus isn't leaving Caroline for Hayley, who's pregnant with his child. Plec didn't rule out the possibility of crossover episodes between The Originals and The Vampire Diaries to play out relationships.

Rebekah: She will be in Mystic Falls for the first episode of The Originals, so we won't get to see her until the second. Last we saw her, she was making plans with Matt, so that will come to a close because something will bring her to New Orleans.

Marcel: Flashbacks will be incorporated to tell Marcel's back story, like how he and Klaus first met.

Hayley: Her pregnancy will be played out, although there won't be anything with Haley and Klaus beyond that one-night stand. It sounds like Klaus will be there for Hayley, but what they have won't be romantic and will be more of a bond. Whether their baby is a new breed is something that Plec said will remain unanswered.
