The Office premiered a series of internet-only webisodes last summer, entitled “The Accountants,” and they were received so warmly that NBC and
The Office writers are back with another batch of webisodes this summer, the first of which debuted today at NBC's official website. The series is called “Kevin's Loan” and it involves our favorite “special” accountant, Kevin Malone, as he tries to secure a small business loan in order to pay off some gambling debts to his bookie. Kevin, as fans of
The Office are well aware, is a gambling addict. This personality trait has popped up occasionally during the first four seasons and, coupled with his Police tribute band association, is one of Kevin's defining characteristics. The first of four webisodes in “Kevin's Loan”, called “Money Trouble,” was released today, and it stars
Brian Baumgartner as Kevin and
Oscar Nunez as Oscar. You can watch the full webisode below.
“Money Trouble”
Not ground-breaking, but very funny stuff. I especially loved Oscar's confessional where he goes through all of the questions Kevin typically asks him. “Can I say I was an astronaut and sell the movie rights?” Kevin is one of the most unsung cast members on
The Office. He provides the funny in pretty much every single scene he appears in. In fact, if I had to rank the peripheral
Office characters, I think it'd go something like this:
1) Kevin
2) Stanley
3) Creed
4) Darryl
5) Kelly
6) Andy
7) Angela
8) Oscar
9) Phyllis
10) Meredith
11) Toby
I mean, they're all pretty damn good. I only put Toby last because, despite being funny, he's totally depressing. But, it's nice to see the minor characters get time to shine, even if it is just in a short, web-only venue. Kevin and Oscar will be joined by Stanley and Daryl in subsequent webisodes.
For the next three weeks, a new webisode will be released every Thursday, and every Thursday we'll have them here at BuddyTV.
