Bad timing for
Craig Robinson. The actor, best known for his role on
The Office as Daryl, should have been enjoying the success of
Pineapple Express, in which Robinson had his biggest film role to date. Instead, he was dealing with the fallout from his recent June 29 arrest, in which he was pulled over by Los Angeles cops at a traffic stop. The police found drugs, including ecstasy, inside the actor's car. Things could have been worse. Robinson will avoid jail time after he plead guilty to drug possession. If Robinson stays clean for 18 months and completes required therapy sessions, all charges will be dropped. Felony possession charges and misdemeanor under the influence charges were also dropped as part of the settlement.
Craig Robinson will be reprising his role as Daryl once more for
The Office's upcoming fifth season. In addition to
The Office, Robinson has become a member of Judd Apatow's stable of actors, having appeared in Apatow productions
Knocked Up, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and, most recently,
Pineapple Express. For
Pineapple Express, Robinson has garnered rave reviews for his portrayal of a very atypical hit man. Robinson will also be seen in Kevin Smith's upcoming comedy
Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which will be released on October 31 of this year.
In other
Office news, writer and producer Michael Schur (who also plays Mose Schrute) has signed a new two year deal with Universal Media Studios worth, source say, seven figures. The primary focus of the agreement is for Schur to work on and develop the proposed Amy Poehler-centric sitcom that NBC wants to get underway early in 2009. Poehler has already signed on and will be leaving
Saturday Night Live in the middle of the upcoming season. While the project was once thought to be a spin-off of
The Office, this is not the case. Details on the plot are still not available, likely because they don't exist.
