Steve CarellTwo things have occurred recently that, in all likelihood, could have direct bearing on the much-awaited new episodes of NBC's The Office.  First, the hundred-day-long writers' strike was resolved and second, The Office's main man, Steve Carell, was recruited for jury duty.

Carell, who stars as the overeager boss, Michael Scott, in The Office, spoke at the recently held WonderCon, where he was one of the panelists for the movie, Get Smart.  Although Carell was there primarily for his upcoming film, he did manage to include a few tidbits about his NBC sitcom.

For one thing, Carell assured the audience that he would be "back at work [on The Office] in two weeks."

The actor, who first came to prominence as the lead star in the theatrical release, The 40 Year Old Virgin, also hinted at a possible direction his character might take sometime in the not too immediate future.

Aside from starring in The Office, Carell has also occasionally written material for the popular sitcom.  When asked at the WonderCon session, whether his soon-to-be-back-at-work status also means he will be penning some of the highly anticipated new episodes, the actor said not for the remainder of the current season.  However, he did allude to the fact that his recent stint on the jury could find its way in The Office somewhere further down the line.

"I just finished two weeks of jury duty," Carell announced.  "I think I'm going to write an episode where Michael Scott gets jury duty."

In other news, Andy Buckley, who plays Dunder Mifflin CFO David Wallace on The Office, will be in attendance at this year's St. Patrick's Day parade in downtown Scranton.  Tim Holmes, director of community newspapers for Times-Shamrock Communications announced that The Office co-star has confirmed his participation in the March 15 affair.  Aside from Wallace, the NBC Store will also be at the parade to market new Office-themed T-shirts.
