Ricky Gervais is officially having the best week ever. Friday was the season 2 premiere of his hilarious animated HBO series, The Ricky Gervais Show. On Sunday he hosted the Golden Globes and received more press than any of the winners for his caustic wit. Now comes news that Gervais will soon be appearing on the American version of the show he started, The Office.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

According to Vulture, Gervais will appear in the January 27 episode as his Office boss, David Brent. While it's just a quick cameo in the cold open, getting to see David Brent and Michael Scott at the same time is an event Office fans have been waiting for since the American version began seven years ago.

Executive producer Paul Lieberstein told Vulture that the scene only features Gervais and Steve Carell outside of Dunder-Mifflin, but it's impossible to imagine that the result could be anything other than great. He also revealed that the cameo was filmed back in September when Gervais came to Los Angeles for the Emmys. The most shocking part is that this information wasn't leaked much, much earlier.

Gervais has written an episode of the American Office, but this will be his first on-screen appearance.

Since this is Steve Carell's final year on The Office (a fact Gervais made a joke about on the Golden Globes when he accused Carell of killing their cash cow), I can't think of a better way to honor the character of Michael Scott than having him interact with David Brent.

Be sure to tune in on Thursday, January 27 at 9pm on NBC to catch the two men of The Office together at last.
