Craig Robinson as Darryl Philbin
Darryl Philbin of
The Office from NBC is played by Craig Robinson. A foreman in the warehouse of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch, Darryl works in a potentially hazardous area, and thus has high regard for safety precautions. However, office manager Michael Scott often disrupts his work by disregarding safety rules and meddles with the work schedule, thus delaying shipments and deliveries. Darryl is often dry and humorless in dealing with Michael, because he dislikes Michael's irresponsibility. Michael on the other hand, believes that Darryl is a criminal, and often calls on Dwight to serve as a bodyguard to prevent Darryl from bonding with Meredith's son.
During the company Christmas party, Michael was reluctant in letting Darryl wear the Santa hat, because Michael thought Darryl did not look like Santa. Darryl, who was tired of Michael's antics, played a prank on the office manager by teaching him non-existent slang words and handshakes from the Ghetto.
Darryl became the recipient of Michael's vacation photo with Jan Levinson, which he forwarded to most of the employees in the branch. He later negotiated a pay raise with Michael, whom he also encouraged to get his own raise.
Michael once kicked a ladder upon which Darryl was standing, thus causing Darryl to fall and sustain a leg injury. He was later seen in crutches, but recovered soon enough. Darryl saved Michael's life by talking him out of jumping off the building after Michael tried to demonstrate the effects of depression.
During the Fun Run, Darryl revealed that he was a Presbyterian, a fact that caught the attention of Pam. He was then caught feeding squirrels by Michael, who was about to lecture the employees about rabies.
A divorced man, Darryl does not have primary custody of his three-year-old daughter. He is dating Kelly Kapoor, the customer service representative in Dunder Mifflin.
