BuddyTV Fall 2008 Preview: Gina Scarpa's Top 5 Returning Shows
For exclusive on-set videos and hot features on the new TV season, check out BuddyTV's Fall 2008 Preview.

My name is Gina Scarpa and I'm a couch potato.  I'm not lazy, overweight, or sloppy.  I'm always busy, I like to be social, and I have lots of friends.  Despite those things, there's always one place I want to be: on my couch, in front of my tv, with a snack in one hand, and my laptop in the other.  I don't even know what to do with myself during the summer, without my favorite scripted television shows to keep up with.  Don't even get me started on Lost not returning until 2009.  I almost needed to join a support group.  Things are looking up, though.  It's August and in just a few short weeks, my shows come back on, life gets back to normal, and I can finally figure out what happened after Jim couldn't propose to Pam on The Office.  Bring on the fall shows!

5. Grey's Anatomy

I may be one of the few people who DON'T watch Grey's Anatomy to find out what happens with Derek and Meredith.  Honestly, I could care less at this point.  I assume, based on last season's finale, that Shonda Rhimes is planning on putting the two back together and keeping them there.  I'm watching for other reasons: the Callie/Erica relationship, the rumors that Cristina is getting a new man, and the rants of my favorite Seattle Grace doctor, Miranda Bailey.

4. Survivor

Survivor is hands down my favorite reality show and though they've had a few less than stellar seasons in recent times, they won me back whole heartedly with Micronesia.  At that season finale, Jeff Probst unveiled the promo video for this fall's destination, Gabon, Africa.  I don't need to know any more than the little that CBS has shown me to be excited.  I'm confident in Survivor's ability to put together a great cast and Gabon looks like a destination with equal parts beauty and danger.  I assume, in this country, there's no place for an Exile Island, which makes me like this season even more!

3. How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother is a show that I didn't initially start watching on my own.  It was suggested to me by a friend, who then gave me the first season on DVD for Christmas last year.  I had no idea what I was missing.  I fell in love with Ted, Lily, Marshall, Robin, and Barney (especially Barney) immediately.  The five friends are lucky that my love for them is unconditional since season 3 was by far the show's weakest.  They had enough stellar moments though, with Slapsgiving, the return of Robin Sparkles, and the shocking revelation that Barney was actually in love with Robin!  Being in love better not soften up Barney, though.  By far my favorite character on television, I need to him to come out swinging in season 4.  Suit up!

2. Prison Break

I'm pretty sure I haven't been this excited about Prison Break since its first season.  The show has set up an absolutely spectacular storyline, including Sara's return from the dead and the formation of Michael Scofield's A-Team to take down The Company.  Everything I've heard and read about Prison Break's fourth season has only made me more excited.  New characters will come into play from top government agents to hackers to deadly assassins that will complicate Michael's life even more than it already is.  Of course, many fans are looking for a MiSa reunion and they'll get it very early in season 4.  I'm in it, though, for the A-Team!  The more testosterone on the screen this season, the better!

1. The Office

The Office
came under some fire for airing so many hour long episodes last season but not from me.  The second half of season 4 turned out some of the best performances and biggest laughs we've ever seen.  From Jan's meltdown at an awkward dinner party to Dwight letting Holly think that Kevin was special ed, I just couldn't get enough of the staff at Dunder Mifflin.  I don't care if they never sell another ream of paper.  All I care about is who Phyllis is going to tell first after she walked in on Angela and Dwight having sex!  If I could make one request of my favorite comedy, it would be to keep Jim and Pam together.  That's when Krasinski and Fischer are at their best - and I'm at my happiest!
