Steve Carell, star of the comedy series
The Office, has yet another moving coming up. Aside from
Evan Almighty, which hit theaters on Friday, he will be starring in the romantic comedy film entitled
Dan in Real Life.
Apart from his role on
The Office as Michael Scott, Carell is known for his roles in movies such as Andy Stitzer in
The 40-Year Old Virgin, Brick Tamland in
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Frank Ginsburg in
Little Miss Sunshine. Popularly known for his comedic acting, he has won numerous awards from various award-giving bodies.
Dan in Real Life features
The Office star as the lead character Dan Burns, a widower who is left with the task of raising his three daughters on his own while he writes a parenting column for a local newspaper. To add complications, he falls in love with his younger brother’s girlfriend during a family vacation.
Directed by Peter Hedges and written by Pierce Gardner, the movie also stars Dane Cook as Mitch Burns, Carell’s onscreen younger brother, and Juliet Binoche as Marie, Carell’s love interest in the movie. Other cast members include Norbert Leo Butz as Clay Burns, John Mahoney as Poppy Burns, Dianne Wiest as Nana, Alison Pill as Jane Burns, Brittany Robertson as Cara Burns, Marlene Lawston as Lilly Burns, Emily Blunt as Ruthie Draper, Jessica Lussier as Jessica Burns, Shana Carr as Suzanne Burns, Willa Cuthrell-Tuttleman as Bella Wilson, and C.J. Adams as Elliott Burns.
The said movie, which began filming in November 2006 in Jamestown, Misquamicut, and Providence, Rhode Island, has already completed its post-production. Distributed by Touchstone Pictures,
Dan in Real Life is scheduled for release on October 12, 2007.
