Aside from some serious mother action and a musical courtesy of Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother has something else in store for fans for its 100th installment. Rachel Bilson, who is most famous for her role as Summer Roberts on the drama series The O.C., has booked a guest spot on the milestone episode as yet another possible candidate for the show's titular mystery.
While there's really no reason to get ahead of ourselves and speculate that Bilson is the mother of Ted's children, considering that she's just in for one episode, it has been
previously hinted by How I Met Your Mother creator Carter Bays that "Ted will also get as close to meeting the mom as he's ever before." Adding, "I don't want to give it away, but he gets so tantalizingly close, it's ridiculous." Obviously, this has led some fans to believe that Bilson's stint on How I Met Your Mother entails the "serious Mother action."
I don't know about you but even if I hadn't known that Bilson will only be appearing for one episode, I can't really picture Bilson as Ted's future wife. I'm also bent on believing that this is just one of Carter Bays' mischievous tactics to throw viewers off course.
Bilson's rep has confirmed the gig but, understandably, refuses to divulge any information about the actress' role. Fans will just stay tuned to find out, probably in January 2010, according to CBS' schedule.
After
The O.C., Bilson appeared on
Chuck for two episodes and was then cast in films like
Jumper and
New York, I Love You. At present, she's filming the romantic movie
Waiting for Forever as lead character Emma Twist.
